I am not one to make "resolutions."  I am the type of person who dives head first without looking into most situations in life.  Add that to that fact that I'm also pretty hard on myself and you clearly have a recipe for post-New Year disaster!  I find that most resolutions are hard to maintain--it's easy to go into these new expectations with the utmost excitement and often burn ourselves out before the season even changes.

My lack of desire for resolutions does not, however, mean I am sour about the New Year. In fact, it's quite opposite.  I am always completed intrigued by January's blank, white canvas and the rainbow of paints just waiting to be used lying next to it.  That is how I like to approach the new year.  I like to have the control of painting that blank canvas the colors of my choice, and it makes me very appreciative at the end of the year to see the finished product that I allowed myself to slowly draw over time.

What color/s will YOUR New Year be?
Here are some ways for you to add a little color into 2012:

Red: symbolizes action and confidence.

Pink: symbolizes love and beauty.

Orange: symbolizes vitality with endurance.

Gold: symbolizes prosperity and wisdom.

Yellow: symbolizes joy, happiness and intellectual energy.

Green: symbolizes well being.

Blue: symbolizes spirituality and peace.

Purple: symbolizes magic and mystery.

Indigo: symbolizes deep contemplation and meditation.

It's truly inspiring to look at the new year in living color, isn't it?  Sometimes "resolutions" only allow us to focus on one aspect of life.  This year, I challenge you to live life to the fullest and paint the entire rainbow.

I think my life is filled with aspects that fit each color. I'm hoping for a full, yet well-rounded and balanced year. I definitely see all the colors occurring at different times and on different occasions throughout the upcoming year.

I couldn't just pick one color!  For me, it's Red for work/career.  I have to pick Yellow for my family life - it's all about spending time with my wife and three kids that bring joy and happiness.  Thanks for sharing this excercise!
