Happy Haunting, er...Halloween!

19th Century All Hallow's Eve at Allaire Village:  October 13th, 12p+, $5pp (kids under 6 are free);  there will be costume parades, Pumpkin painting and more.  4263 Atlantic Avenue, Farmingdale.  Allaire Village will also have spooky hayrides, etc., for the following 2 weekends, October 19/20, 25/26 (admission fee required).

Ocean Grove Halloween Parade -- downtown, October 26th.  Call 732-774-1391 for times.

Bradley Beach Halloween Parade -- 6pm, October 30th. Riley Park.

from Shark River Hills Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Halloween benefit and gift auctionat 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at 200 Brighton Ave. for $15 per ticket, according to a township news release. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for the event, which will benefit the volunteer firefighters of Shark River Hills.  Attractions include a cash bar, concession stand, prizes and entertainment including music by SugarCrash.  For more information, call 732-682-7634.

This Girl-Scout-sponsored event in Farmingdale says it's "not so scary"! "Most sessions are available only to Girl Scout members, but every year - for three hours only - the public is invited to experience all that Spooktacular has to offer during Family Day. This years Spooktacular Family Day will take place at Sacajawea Day Camp on Saturday, October 19th from noon to 3:00 pm. You do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend this session. Cost is $9.00 per person in advance and $10.00 per person at the door. Children under the age of three are free."

He's done this for 9 years and collected hundreds of pounds of candy.  Now you and your kids can donate their H'ween candy, which will then go to US troops serving overseas!  Dr. Ron Rotem, a Toms River dentist (355 Lakehurst Road), is holding his annual Halloween Candy Buy-back Contest on Monday, November 4 and Tuesday, November 5 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Parents and kids are asked to bring candy to the office in exchange for $1.00 a pound (up to 10 lbs. per family).  The child who brings in the most candy, by weight, will win a $50.00 gift card.  Save teeth -- and help our military! 

For kids with diabetes:  Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center (Howell) announces its 1st annual Halloween Candy Exchange for Children with Diabetes to take place on Friday, November 1st from 5:00pm 7:00pm. All youngsters with diabetes are invited along with their families to attend a night of fun and enjoyment, and are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to celebrate. The evening will include games, prizes and entertainment along with dinner donated by Sporacos Italian Market and Catering. Children in attendance are asked to bring the candy theyve collected from trick-or-treating or any other activity and in exchange, they will receive sugar-free candy and other treats. The sugary treats in turn will be donated to the Howell Food Pantry for distribution. The whole family is invited to enjoy a community event that will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation at the Leta Kids Pumpkin Express, Sunday, October 13, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Laurelton Fire House, Route 88 West and Olden Street (across from Jersey Paddler, in Brick).  The event includes kids' games and prizes, a balloon animal artist, a special appearance by Sunshine the Clown, popcorn, refreshments, baked good, raffles, and a special appearance by Santa at 11:00 a.m. Painted pumpkins decorated by local artists are available for purchase.  For further information call Dave Leta at 732-458-6674 or email Also visit or Facebook at the Leta Kids Pumpkin Express.

DJ Music, and Dancing

Neptune Township Recreation is celebrating Halloween for children from kindergarten through fifth grade in a fun, not spooky way—with a Halloween DJ Music and a Halloween Magic Show. Be sure to wear your costume and come ready for some Halloween fun! 

There will be treats and tricks for all! So come by broom, bat wing, or pumpkin coach to the Gables School Gym on Friday, October 25, from 5-7:30 pm!
