There are so many Easter events happening this month! Besides the usual Pinterest craft ideas to do at home with my kids (which I have noticed I do a little less this month, since everything coming home from preschool seems to have a bunny or an egg on it!), there are a multitude of resources for local parents to see what activities are going on throughout the next few weeks.
At Jersey Family Fun, you can search under your county, and then look for Egg Hunt and generic Easter activities. I literally found dozens and dozens of events, many of which were at local churches, firehouses, and through municipalities.
When passing by your Town Hall, check out the bulletin board or digital sign out front for when your neighborhood will be having its egg hunt or bunny photo session! I really like those towns that have noticed that it’s best to have more than one time-slot for egg hunts – so your two-year-old doesn’t get knocked down by an eight-year-old as they both try to snag a purple orb hiding in the grass. Make sure you know when the appropriate activity starts for your kids’ age group!
Speaking of photos, every local mall has pics with the Easter Bunny (for a fee, of course), and most malls have even more than that! The Monmouth Mall and the Ocean County Mall (Kidgets club) each have events on March 19th (which is the biggest pre-Easter kids activity weekend); the Eatontown event comes with a $5 mall gift card, and the Toms River activity benefits an educational non-profit. Nationwide Boscov’s stores are also doing an event that Saturday, on March 19th, where kids under 12 can decorate a bunny cookie, make crafts, take a free photo with the larger-than-life Easter Bunny, and hop around the store’s Bunny Trail! Michael’s craft stores also hold $2 craft days for kids, and the March events are Easter themed; check your local store for details.
For many families, Easter is more of a religious event, so definitely check out what your church or place of worship might be doing this March.
Bunnies hop…so can your kids! If you want a fitness-themed activity, join Meridian Pediatric Network and Hopscotch (hey, he's another big bunny!) from the Pawsitive Action Team at one of the several events planned over the next few weeks. And, you can ask your children to write a story about Hopscotch, and send it here.
Don’t forget to check out the Star Ledger and Asbury Park Press To-Do pages, too!
Parents, I “hop” to see you at some of these local events. Please send me other ideas you have about fun Easter activities!
