Simplifying the Morning Routine

A simplified morning routine helps any mom or dad tackle the morning rush with ease. Although you may be ready to crash shortly after baby, taking 30 minutes before bedtime will make the difference and set the tone for a good day. You may be thinking, "There's no possible way to get on a routine" or "It's a free for all in our house." This is all understandable. However, to move forward and at least feel a little more in control of your time, trying a few of these simple tips can help you…

How to Organize Baby's Closet Space

Organizing a baby’s closet is much different than yours because the items are so itty bitty. However, good news is you can fit so much more in the space!

First, install adjustable shelving to make the most of the vertical space in the closet. Babies require very little hanging space, so having the option to remove a shelf when your baby grows, is a great way to maximize space now.

Place no more than two categories of items per shelf. For example, socks in a basket and shoes can…

New Year, New Beginnings

I love the start of a new year. It’s a great time to hit the reset button and start fresh. The baggage of the previous year is gone and time to plan new projects, set new goals and simply move forward.

For me, the New Year also ignites the urge to purge—making space for what is relevant in life versus the items that have one living in the past or don’t fit with today’s lifestyle.

Purging requires making decisions. For many, this is the toughest part of the organizing process,…

Kids Rooms Organized

Kids rooms , especially, can become jam packed and cluttered with lots of itty bitty pieces. As with all organizing endeavors, having a place for everything will help kids put everything in its place.

First, divide your child’s room into clearly defined zones. This will help your child to easily identify what needs to go where. Here are the main zones you want to create:

Sleeping—This is an obvious one. What goes here: The bed and night stand. Try not to use the…

Combat the Chaos of Back-to-School Time

Who doesn't love this time of year? Back-to-school signifies many things: The start of a new {school} year, cool new supplies, some trendy clothes and brand new shoes, backpacks, lunchboxes and more. It's also a hectic time for parents. Everyone is working out the kinks in the schedules, getting kids started with activities and, personally, sometimes I feel like all I do is write checks! There are ways to simplify and start of the year with fewer hiccups. Here’s how:

The Truth about Baby Proofing...

…is that you don’t need to worry about this before baby arrives, but when baby is beginning to show signs of rolling over and crawling, definitely get on it! Of course, there are the obvious drawer locks and door locks for all lower cabinets and drawers in the kitchen and bathroom. And we’ve all heard the tried-and-true tactic…

Traveling with Baby Doesn't Have to be Hard

In today’s world, traveling to visit family and friends is common, especially around the holidays. And, if you love travel as much as I do, introduce your baby to it, as soon as possible, to get them accustomed to the sites and sounds of airports, train stations, and perhaps long car drives. I had both of my babies on a plane by the time they were 3 months old. It’s all doable and can be quite fun. Here are some recommendations for organizing travel with baby.

Organizing Room-by-Room for Baby

It’s amazing how much stuff comes along with the birth of a tiny baby! The little pieces of clothing, the diapers and related supplies, the bottles and binkies, the blankets and toys, books and bath toys. It’s really almost in-comprehensive how much stuff there is to manage for this little bundle of joy. So, what do we do with it all

Create Zones – this is a critical, in any space. It may seem like a basic idea, and…
