I'm no fan of Halloween...

At the risk of sounding like a crappy parent, I'm just going to say this right off the bat:  I can't stand Halloween.

As a child, I remember planning my costume months in advance, just like my kids now do.  I remember the excitement of thumbing through the costume catalogs and circling all of the ones I liked best.  I remember coming off the bus and waiting for my mom to give me the okay to start going from door to door in hopes of filling my entire basket with candy that she never…

Ok, who needs a nap?

As a mom to a four month old and a ten year old, I certainly do. But then, nothing would ever get done. So how about getting the kiddos to nap.

My son was so much easier when he was an infant. He'd fall asleep anywhere. Seriously. He'd fall asleep while in his exersaucer.…

Disciplining Other People's Children: Where Do You Stand?

Last week I got together with some fellow moms for breakfast. We chatted about several topics, but the one that we lingered over was the aforementioned. Oh my stars! There are so many differing opinions on the subjects of disciplining others' children and when others discipline our children.

Have you ever reprimanded another's child, in the best interest of the child, only to find the the parent took offense? How did you handle the situation? On the reverse, has your child…

It's not 'special treatment' -- I'm advocating common courtesy for us moms! (Is that so wrong?)

I just posted to my personal Facebook page a brief account of a parking lot encounter I had this afternoon, so I decided it would make an interesting blog entry tonight.  Right after lunch, I decided to take my 14-month old son out for a walk in his stroller, to head to the Oakhurst Post Office [I am disclosing details, just in case the offender driving a dark-color, luxury sedan ever reads this!] to mail some letters.  I have a car, of course, but it was a gorgeous day out!  So, while I…

The Mommymoon

Sometimes, we just need a break. A long, long, break. Life can be overwhelming at times, with dance practice, gymnastics, the daycare shuffle, work, the gym, dinner, laundry, and oh yeah, sleep. Sometimes, I wish that I could put a pause button on everything, and take a time out. I've written about this before (Mommies At Play: Mommy Needs A Moment), and life has recently shown me that we Mommies deserve to take some time for ourselves. I've… Continue

Traveling for One...Or Five?

This is how traveling makes me feel.

I went on a work trip in August to a conference that I had been looking forward to attending all year. I spent one day immersed in writing, two days immersed in bloggers and one day wandering a…

38 years old, 9 weeks post partum and a pregnancy pooch…a fitness junkie’s journey!

So I am 9 weeks post partum with my 3rd c-section.  I only gained 24 pounds during my pregnancy.  I am lucky.  I have not gained more than 28 pounds in my pregnancy’s each time.  I have lost all my baby weight with each angel we have brought into this world, taught classes until 36 weeks pregnant and as much as I complained, I had very limited complications.  I am lucky.   Maybe it’s genetics, lifestyle, and a little bit of luck?  Who knows…but what I do know is it’s hard…
