Are the kids over scheduled?

With three kids in the house, each of whom participates in multiple activities, it is safe to say that our calendar is pretty full. And with the amount of kids out numbering the amount of adults in the house, and therefore, drivers, it is also safe to say that I am over scheduled. But, what about the kids? How do you know when you have found the right balance and when they have …

Mommy Needs a Time-Out

They light up my life, and make me want to pull all my hair out at the same time… the joys of parenting!

Moms have the hardest job, ever! Feeling exhausted after having kids? Need a break before you break?

Don’t you ever just want to give yourself a time out? I mean, seriously with all…

Kids and Marriage: It's all about commucation and being open to "fix" all kinds of booboos!

Marriage is tough.  It’s tough without kids, and even tougher (many times) with kids!

My husband and I, like many couples, adore our two children, but often long for more alone-time, more date-nights, more sleeping in… and more reconnecting.  Many days it’s the get-ready-for-preschool, drive all over, do errands, check Facebook 12 times, cook, have-dinner-in-a-rush, do baths, put kids to bed, and then crash…

Fashion & Why It Matters (No BS - It Really Does)

The headlines from the latest Fashion Week in Europe on my AP phone app read. "Young Designers Energize In Milan," "Giorgio Armani Gets Last Word In Milan: Diaphanous, " "Milan Designers Engage In Season-Bending," and "Marni Obliterates Minimalism." I don't understand half of it. It barely registers in my brain while at the same time that I am aware that fashion shows have become a form of entertainment for the masses. Once the domain of the rich, these designer showcases are now available…

Saving Time and Getting The Most Out Of Your Workouts While Your Kids Are In School

How did you do with your baby steps last week?  Did you make a fitness plan?  Did you get started?  If not, check back one blog post and start up!  It is never too late to get on track.

So how are you going to do this?

Grab your calendar: Schedule your appointment with yourself and your workout.  Look at your time and be realistic.  If you have 30 minutes, schedule 30 minutes.  If you have that hour, go for it.  But use that time and focus…

Kids Fashion Favorites

With school back in full swing and the weather officially shifting to cooler temperatures, you are sure to be shopping for your little ones.  Below are a few of my favorite unique boutique brands that will have your tots as stylish as they come!  A common misconception is that all boutique childrens labels are ridiculously expensive and I have found that just isn't the case.  Although they are often pricier options than Old Navy or Target, I find the clothing to wash and wear better and last…

Work-Life Balance--Is there such a thing?

What do you get when you take the last few weeks of summer vacation, toss in a new full-time job, and then sprinkle it with moving into a new home?  A completely exhausted, overwhelmed, and if you ask my kids, a somewhat cranky mom!

I've been working 40+ hours a week {mostly from home} for over a year now, but when the opportunity came to start a career in corporate healthcare, I jumped on it.  Although I wasn't sure I was quite ready to be a 9-5'er, the stars aligned and the job…

Apple Crumble Recipe Just in Time for Fall

It's that time of year again. I'm not sure if it's everywhere, but I know that in Jersey, people go crazy for apple picking. If you're anything like us, when you take the kids to the orchards you might get a little crazy with the abundance of fruit. Then you get home and think, what the heck am I going to do with all these apples? Well, I'm here to…

Don't Go Bananas Going Organic!

Going organic can be a really cool choice.  Here are some ways to help your transition run as smoothly threw your smoothie-maker as possible. Trying to shop "local" is part of the culture, so I have been running to my nearby health-food stores for all sorts of amazing products. I buy what's in season, or I get organic berries mid-winter from the frozen organic section, that is if I haven't already frozen some from when they were in season. You get the picture. I also found a wonderful…

How To Explain To Your Children When Good TV Celebs Go Bad

A few weeks ago during the Video Music Awards (VMAs), Miley Cyrus gave us quite a show. You may have seen it, and if you did not, consider yourself lucky. I'm sure by now, most of us have seen, at a minimum, a picture or two of her debacle performance.

We had the VMAs on in our house, although I must admit, no one was an active participant in actually paying close attention to the show. The awards were on as background TV. We didn't…

Ahoy Mate!

Contemplating a vacation with limited time?  We recently took a four-day trip to Newport, Rhode Island.  What a fabulous place!  The people couldn’t be nicer. What a great chance for my kids to see traditional New England manors at their finest.  We intended to sail and sail we did, almost every day.  Just a quick walk to the marina and sailboats and schooners set sail every two hours, with guided tours and kids get to steer the boat.  We stayed at The Hotel Viking, which sits at the top of…
