Making Mommy Friends

With the summer approaching I tend to get a little anxious about those long days and seemingly never ending nights ahead. All the kids are home, fighting between siblings will ensue, dozens of snacks will be eaten, all the neighborhood kids will be in my pool and this mama will be…

“Tough Times Don’t Last – Tough People Do” - A Blog By Bill & Giuliana Rancic

There’s a quote that says, “Tough times don’t last – tough people do.” It’s a quote we’ve come to live by. Our experiences have certainly made us stronger, as individuals and as a family. As we’ve transitioned into parenthood, we are learning to balance family and career, which…

When Defining Moments Take Your Breath Away - A Blog By Bill and Giuliana Rancic

We all have defining moments in life. Moments when you least expect it, when you have a full agenda and a list of things to do, and there is no time for derailment. In an instant, so many aspects of life are put in a new perspective, and the little things are what you learn to cherish most.

Our world changed in August of 2011. We were preparing for our third attempt to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization, and my doctor made me get a mammogram. I was only 37 years old and…

When Bad Things Happen to Good People: Explaining Tragedy To Your Kids

It's becoming a natural part of our parenting landscape.

A human tragedy strikes. Sometimes it's a natural disaster. Other times it's at the hands of a fellow human being.

From Hurricane Sandy to Sandy Hook Elementary School to yesterday's Boston Marathon tragedy, my role as a parent has changed in the wake of these events. I have shifted from being a carefree, happy-go-lucky mother to being constantly worried about the safety of my children in everyday, normal situations. At…

Reading to Your Infant

My life consists of a lot of juggling. Not only do I have to juggle being a wife and mother I have to figure out when to work and take care of myself. It's easy to get overwhelmed and with 3 children I need to make sure each child has the quiet time they need with me. Reading is one of those things that is a win/win for me and the kids. It's a calm time of the day when we just cuddle and sit still...even if it's just for a few moments sometimes.

It's terrible but true to say…

Not all SPF is Created Equal

Summer is around the corner and spring is here! It's never to early or late to start carrying around your SPF. I've been a licensed Esthetician for 13 years and educating my clients on the the differences of SPF has always been my focus.

Sunblock, sunscreen, SPF 15, SPF 50, physical block, chemical block so much information it becomes overwhelming. Sun protection should be a part of your daily routine regardless of your skin tone. Lighter tones obviously need to be more…

What Kind of Sideline Parent Are You?

My girls are very active in sports and activities, and they both, Rylie especially, have grown up watching me out on the field.  Now it’s my turn to sit back and watch them, and I do so quietly.  It may surprise you that someone as competitive and athletic as me can be a quiet sideline parent, but I feel that acting so helps children build their confidence both on and off the field.

Growing up, my parents had a similar philosophy.  They never sat…

What is Your Definition of Eating Healthy?

If someone were to ask you do you eat healthy most of us would say yes or could be better. I found that the definition of eating "healthy" changes with every person you ask. Some say that eating healthy is a well balanced diet with meat, fruits, veggies and grains. Others say low carb high protein. Maybe you have heard someone say they stay away from white flour and sugar. These are all ways of eating that may work for you but I believe the real meaning of eating healthy is to eat organic… Continue
