In addition to contributing here at Meridian Momtourage, I am the Monmouth County Regional Editor at JerseyBites.com. At Jersey Bites, I write about everything from restaurant reviews to food happenings in and around the county.

My passion for writing and my educational background in English, creative writing and literature led me to start my own blog 2 years ago. Pieces of a Mom is a personal account of my trials, tribulations, successes, and yes, failures as a mother.

My blog has cultivated a love for all things social media. You can find me working my magic on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, and Foursquare on any given day.

In addition to writing, I enjoy photography, reading, traveling, wine tasting, and adventure seeking.

Ways To Combat Germs During Back To School Season

I love the routine and fresh start a new school year brings. What I don't love are the germs. Inevitably during the first two weeks of school, my girls come home sniffling and sneezing. Before long those sniffles and sneezes turn into full-blown coughs and colds, and soon after, I am making chicken soup, and we are waiting at the pharmacy for a prescription for an antibiotic to be filled. This school year I have vowed that things will be different. Schools are breeding grounds for germs, and…See More

Tips For Taking Photos of Your Children

I’ve been taking photos of my daughters for years. When I bought my first DSLR about 10 years ago, they were my test subjects, much to their dismay. In those early days, I never thought I’d get a good photo. My girls’ lack of patience coupled with my need for perfection was not a winning combination.By now we’ve…See More

My Relationship with Fitness

Let's start by saying it's complicated. As a child and teenager, I was both a gymnast and a cheerleader. Daily practices and workouts were part of my sport, so I never thought twice about it. I thrived on meeting up with my fellow cheerleaders after school to perfect our pyramids and routines for both high school football and basketball games as well as cheer competitions. It never felt like work, mostly because there was a social aspect to it and I loved the sports I was doing. But once I got…See More

Back To School With Type 1 Diabetes

This time of the year fills me with a sort of dread and anxiety that I don't have any other time of the year. It's back to school season. Moms everywhere are in panic mode as we sort through supplies and clothes, dust off our alarm clocks, and attempt to replace some semblance of normalcy in our daily routines. In addition to all of the above, I am frantically prepping to send my 9 year old type 1 diabetic back to school.…See More

Surviving a First Sleepover with Type 1 Diabetes

When you are the parent of a child with a medical condition, any event or outing is a significant one. From a quick trip to the grocery store to an all-day visit to an amusement park, medical conditions are constantly on our minds, and we are always acutely aware of the health risks associated with them.Over the weekend, my eight year old daughter attended her first sleepover since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February 2014. Her decision to go to the party was not one that we came to…See More

Tips For Getting Your Children To Read During the Summer

For as long as I can remember I've had a love of reading. I think it started in first grade when I first learned to read, and it continues today. When I had children, my hope was to instill that same love of reading in them. I think I've done a pretty good job of that, but summers can be a challenge. A break from school…See More
