Love this! Thanks for the motivation, Lori. I've been doing great, but it ALWAYS helps to get a little extra push from a pro like you. :)

It's been a really tough winter for my children, especially my youngest. She was diagnosed with asthama this winter. Our pulmonologist encouraged frequent hand washing and no sharing of cups, straws, eating utensils, etc. Disinfectants are…

Great idea! Resolutions seem to have taken on a negative connotation, where mantras are so positive and empowering. Thanks!!

I like this idea, as it doesn't set you up for failure, like resolutions do.  Resolutions are great, but most of us don't stick to them throughout the year.

I think my life is filled with aspects that fit each color. I'm hoping for a full, yet well-rounded and balanced year. I definitely see all the colors occurring at different times and on different occasions throughout the upcoming year.

Great tips, Angie! We travel frequently with our children. They were most excited about learning of the new under 12 and no shoe removal rule. :)

What's Your Mantra for the New Year?

I learned this week that resolutions are so last year. Outdated. Gone. Instead, they are being replaced by mantras; phrases or words by which you live your life. The mantras are broader, more general terms by which you reinvent yourself and achieve your goals throughout the year.I like the idea of replacing resolutions with a word or mantra for the year. I've asked around, and almost everyone seems to be adopting one. Here are some examples of mantras and words that I've heard from family…See More

Great tips, Stacey. I have little hoarders who are guilty of collecting lots of those itty bitty pieces to which you refer. Those little things sure do add up quickly. I try to do a monthly purge of those little things. I think compartmentalizing…

Drapey sweaters. I have a ton of them and they work so well for layering. Plus, I am ALWAYS cold. For me, these sweaters work great because they go on easily and can be taken off when inside. I pair it with a great scarf and I've got a fab look!

Disciplining Other People's Children: Where Do You Stand?

Last week I got together with some fellow moms for breakfast. We chatted about several topics, but the one that we lingered over was the aforementioned. Oh my stars! There are so many differing opinions on the subjects of disciplining others' children and when others discipline our children.

Have you ever reprimanded another's child, in the best interest of the child, only to find the the parent took offense? How did you handle the situation? On the reverse, has your child…

Tips For Easing Homework and Schoolwork Anxiety

Back to school means back to schoolwork and homework. The start of another school year can often be overwhelming for both children and parents. Making the transition from a carefree summer to a structured school routine proves difficult for everyone. The combination of more complex academic topics and additional hours of homework can lead to anxiety for children of any age. This fall I sent my youngest off to kindergarten and my oldest to the 4th grade. Since the day they stepped off the bus…

Making You and Your Health a Priority

Each morning you wake, usually in response to the cries of a child or to the buzzing of an alarm. As you bound out of bed, you anticipate the day that lies ahead of you. If you are like many moms, most, if not all, of your day will be spent tending to the needs of others.

Whether it's our own children or someone else's, or our bosses, our employees, or our spouses, most of us spend the majority of our days focusing on everyone but ourselves. Most moms are guilty…
