Family Vacation... Roadtrip... We Survived!!!

Last week we travelled down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  And when I say the "outer" banks, I mean it... really far away outer banks... down to Cape Hatteras type of outer banks.  It was our first time to NC.  Last summer, we drove almost 500 miles to Orono, ME for our summer trip.  This year, we decided to do something different and travel south to vacation with my sister's family.   I absolutely love roadtripping, as evidenced by my husband and I driving cross-country SIX times,…See More

Top Five Best Parks and Playgrounds for Kids

As spring (or at least what should be the season of spring... you know the one with sun and warm temperatures) happens upon us, I think it's time to get our kids outside everyday for lots of fresh air, sunlight and exercise.  This was a long, cold and snowy winter, so now I like to take advantage of every non-raining day to explore the beauty of New Jersey.  It got me thinking about the best parks and playgrounds for kids, those with plenty to do that is fun and free. So, here it is: The Top…See More

My Choice... From Breast Cancer to Motherhood

There's a hot pink line painted down Broad Street.  Did you see it?  Right between the yellow ones? In the following weeks, Red Bank will transform itself into Pink Bank. The houses and businesses decorated around town, the giant pink ribbons hanging from the lamp-posts, the Wednesday evening Girls’ Night Out at the Downtown and the Pink Hat Tea party will all be reminders to, "Get your annual mammogram!" Pink Bank hopes to raise awareness that…See More

What to Choose: To Love, To Teach, and To Stare

Sometimes at night I stare at my children. Their eyes closed, lips slightly pursed, eyebrows relaxed, cheeks red and round.  Sound asleep… chest barely rising.  If I look long enough, I am able to catch a glimpse of the future.  Their faces morph and I am transported ahead fifteen years. The first time this happened, I felt like I was participating in an outer-body experience.  I thought maybe I was seeing my husband’s face in my son’s or possibly a grandfather’s nose or aunt’s almond shaped…See More
