Water Birth at Jersey Shore - QUESTION
Hello! We are excited to have the option of having a water birth at JSUMC. I go to Dr. Baum at Jersey Shore OBGYN and cannot afford a midwife, and I do really like him. I will be using a doul in the room, but Im just not sure how the water birth option works when you're using a doula and a doctor vs a midwife. I want it to be as unassisted as possible with just my husband helping and nurses checking on my progress and only HIGHLY necessary interventions.
Anyone with experience in this area, advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

we go to the center for women's health (avon) midwife practice, and i thought they were the only ones that could use the water tub @ JSUMC (b/c you have to rent it, set it up, clean it up, etc.), but i hope it's open to all and i could definitely be incorrect. would your dr. know? from our experience and what i've heard, JSUMC is very welcoming of doulas, and the nurses there are great (we had our first child there last yr)... make sure your dr knows your labor plan, though LOL -- they don't always go as planned! :) don't forget there's also one (normal) TUB in Labor and Delivery too for laboring (if it's a busy night and a bunch of moms want to use that tub, i hear it's first come, first served!)...
