January is one of my favorite times of year. The holidays are over and it feels like I can really put the previous year behind and begin anew. As much as I love the holidays and all that goes with it, in January, the clutter of the holiday decorations is gone and my house begins to feel back to normal. What are your plans for this year? Is organizing part of it? Remember, organizing comes in many forms including emotional and physical. It's about creating order and making sense of things. What will you make sense of in 2011?

I am definitely trying to stay on top of daily chores and housework so that I don't spend chunks (hours) of time doing it. I truly think that setting aside hours and hours to clean, do laundry, etc. is such a waste of valuable time. I'd rather budget little spaces of time to do those things and save the big chunks of time for the things that matter such as spending quality time with my family.

Sheila, I think you're on to something with budgeting time to accomplish household chores.By doing that, you stay on top of it and are less likely to have to hold-up in the house for an entire weekend trying to get back on track. With systems in place for tackling household chores, be it cleaning, organizing, laundry, etc., other people can learn the systems too and pitch in, when needed. A great way to teach kids how to jump in and get things done so there's more time for fun! ;-)
