I knew some of those statistics, but I still feel as if society makes it difficult for women to feel comfortable breastfeeding in public. Plus, I had difficulty breastfeeding with both of my daughters,,,just learning the correct position and a technique that worked for both me and baby. Lacatation consultants were not readily available in my geographic area. Breastfeeding for me was a very frustrating process. Couple that with being a new mom, and it can become overwhelming emotionally.
the nurses in the nicu and L&D (JSUMC) helped me figure out nursing...tx ladies!  we stopped 2 mos ago @ 12 mos and i really hope it's as easy for #2, tho there's no guarantees of course!  i feel so sad when friends have trouble, and hope they don't feel too bad if they can't do it.  tx also to linda carroll @ the New Mom's Group @ the hospital -- she knows EVERYTHING about BF'ing.  the group meets every thurs @ JSUMC at the auditorium space @ 1-3pm -- babies welcome... BF is almost always the #1 topic.  also -- local La Leche League groups are a wealth of knowledge (the one in Ocean Twp helped me too!) :)
