Taking the Binkie away

Any suggestions / techniques on how to take my son's binkie away?  And what age should I do it?  I am due with my second next month, so he will also be making a transition to a big boy bed in a couple of months.  I am scared of too much change all at once.  Or am I over reacting?

I just want to share that I am glad for this discussion post because I am in the midst of contemplating taking the binkie away from my daughter. My doctor said to give it up no later than 15 months, but that seems extremely aggressive. I have begun limiting how often she gets it, but I'm (yes me, not her) not ready to take it away cold turkey....yet. Thank you all for such great tips!
