Looking for fun day trips/activities to do with a 2.5 year old boy!

My husband and I are taking the first week in July to do at least one fun thing a day with our son.  He is 2.5 and we live in Monmouth County.  What are your suggestions for fun things to do in the extended area.  We want to make it a spectacularly fun week!

For his age, the Please Touch Museum in Philly is a great idea!  He will love it there & so will you guys.  Very fun.  And you can enjoy the day in Philly afterwards - lots of parks for playing, restaurants, etc.  Sesame Place is another great option for his age, and there is a Discovery Combo ticket for Please Touch and Sesame Place you can buy on the Please Touch website.

Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill. Also, Adventure Aquarium is a ton of fun for kids of all ages. Upstairs is their new kid zone where he will enjoy the touch tanks, and enjoy playing.

Want to stay more local?  The Monmouth Museum's Wonder Wing is awesome (it's on the Brookdale CC campus), Dorbrook Park Sprayground, Asbury Park's Splashpark (right now there's a Groupon for $10 for 2 kids, 2 adults), go to a local orchard (we like Battleground Orchards by Freehold Mall) and Eastmont Orchards (, and the petting zoo at Atlantic Farms in Manasaquan.  Other kids museums across NJ are Imagine That! in Florham Park, Popcorn Park Zoo (Forked River), and Turtleback Zoo in North Jersey, plus the new dinosaur museum by the Meadowlands.  HAVE FUN!!!
